Seven digital artworks reimagined in the physical space of a home in Whitley Bay
ArtHouses is back in the homes of Whitley Bay! Our ArtHouses:22 programme launches with this weekend event that invites people back to experience 7 artworks, from 7 artists, hosted in a house in Whitley Bay.
All of the artists in the exhibition were commissioned by ArtHouses during the lockdowns to make digital artworks that have been shared online and seen by people on their screens. The works presented in INVERTED in May 2020 were made by artists in lockdown and viewed by audiences on laptops or other devices in their own homes in similarly isolated situations. LOCALwifi artworks were viewed on people’s smartphones at different locations in Whitley Bay, via an app made for the project, and using wifi networks hosted by local residents.
We have now invited them back to reimagine these works outside of the screen into a family home, giving the artists the opportunity revisit these works, and consider how they function in the physical and domestic space of a home. The event creates new meeting places, opening spaces for conversation and for sharing stories that extend beyond the walls of the building.
This free event will be open to the public 12 – 5pm, Saturday 30th July and Sunday 31st July.
If you have any access needs, need to visit during a quiet time or if you have any other questions please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
