Learn how to capture the illusion of shadows and reflections in your work. By looking at examples from art history we will explore how this illusion was created in the past and how we can use these techniques in your own work.

Essential for new starters and members seeking to refresh their basic skills, our Intro Workshops offer a friendly, social environment to renew your confidence. Join us weekly on Tuesday afternoons (2:00 - 3:30 pm) or Thursday mornings (10:30 am - 12:00 pm) for guided exercises exploring various art forms. Discover your creativity and build a solid foundation for your use of art as a tool to support your mental health.

Whether you have a project in mind or need some creative direction, our sessions offer the guidance and inspiration you need to build your confidence. Fitzrovia Noir are offering a chance to learn how to design and print with our new 3D printer.

Over two consecutive weeks learn how to print in 3D, including making your own designs.

NTAS will be exhibiting in the Bridge Gallery on Tynemouth Station as part of North Tyneside Art Trail 2024. Join Rosie every Monday to work on your own showstopper piece for this exhibition. Theme: “My North Tyneside” PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS AN OPEN CALL - deadline 29th July - even if you don’t attend the workshops, anyone can submit!

Fundamentals: Oil Painting - Suitable for All, Booking Required.

Join us for an immersive oil painting workshop where, working on a stretched canvas, you'll master techniques like glazing, scumbling, and blending, discover the magic of layering and experiment with combining oils and acrylics. We’ll explore ways to create depth and texture, enhancing your artwork with rich vibrant layers and draw inspiration from renowned artists and their use of oils. What to bring:  

• Inspiring images – these could be printed images from magazines or books etc which you can use in a collage  

• A stretched (unprimed) canvas – you can create your canvas at Rosie's Canvas Making workshop but if not, this will be provided

Join Rosie for another session of drawing and painting in Northumberland park. Practise your observational drawing skills by painting the natural world or bring a sketchbook to journal how you feel when immersed in nature. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful park down the road, let's make the most of it!

We will provide basic materials but please feel free to bring your own equipment.

Join Rosie in Studio 1 and explore creative journaling every month. You can bring a sketchbook or Rosie can help you make your own junk journal from scratch. Think of a creative journal as a "sketchbook meets diary".

There is no right way or wrong way to journal and each book is unique! Each session explores a new prompt and Rosie will provide examples, creative tips and tricks and gentle guidance to help you get started whilst exploring a range of techniques including collage, stitch and mixed media drawing..

Friday Feast

Join us on the last Friday of the month for our creative social with food and board games. Feeling less isolated is one of the key benefits that members say they gain from coming to the studio - and what better way to do this than adding some food into the mix! Bring a dish you would like to share - sweet or savoury. Please clearly label all ingredients.
